Kelly also means ‘warrior’. I never believed that until I started battling RA. Now I know myself better.:o) Kelly C.

How about naming her Miss Priss! or…Daisy! She sounds so pretty! Polly

>When is she moving from the garage to the house? Have you >had her spayed yet?
I already have 2 indoor cats. Am not planning on a third. As for spaying, back before she would get near me, she had "company" and didn’t end up preggers. Is there a way to tell if a cat has already been spayed? I asked her and she aint talking. Response:
A cat that is not ours lives with us. Remember? The one we thought was pregnant? But the vet said was simply "excessively overweight". She wasn’t "overweight" when she first arrived here <G>. Ya gotta feed those poor strays that aren’t yours right? <GBG> We named her "River", but someone on here said their neighbors had a cat that was 14 pounds and answered to "Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty". We tried it on River, she LOVED it. Now we just call her "Itty" or "Itty Bitty". She’s still not our cat though….I’ll send ya a pic of Itty Bitty. Gloria

First off, I would put in a pet door and let her in the house. After that, I would wait and she will name herself. You will be looking at her someday or thinking about her as you are doing something else and a name will come to you out of the blue.

Is the cat spayed? I spay and neuter the strays (I don’t do it; the vet does; I just pay). I get them the needed innoculations and feed them. I too have purchased a small dog house they sleep in. In FL it isn’t too bad for them to be out except recently I was really worried. Caught 3 at that time so I could make sure at least they were at the vet getting done while it was cold. I’m sure they are NOT grateful. They all stay in my back yard so it’s nice. I hope they don’t invite too many more friends. Now for your cat name… how about Chloe? or maybe Patches? or how about Merriweather? Happiness for you and the kitty that’s not yours … Marge

*grin* Make sure you take her to the vet, no sense in catching something from the cat that isn’t yours which could have been prevented instead of making both of you sick. Also, get her sterilised if she hasn’t been already, or you may have more cats that aren’t yours showing up. In regards to naming her, what are some of her behaviours? Alternatively, you could name her by appearance, and the name ‘bright eyes’ comes to mind seeing as this is a feature you’ve found to stand out. Ari

While on vacation in Australia last Sept/Oct, we had a black and white male feral cat move into our work shop house. He now lets us look at him from a distance. Jim actually got within 6′ of him yesterday. Patience and trust will make this cat tame. A few days ago I looked at him and the name "Sylvester" came to mind, don’t know if he esp’d me, but it suits him. I think the cat that now "owns" you will give you a hint at the right time too. Well….. this cat is independent, loyal, and a survivor. My vote is that you call her Kelly. Kitty Kelly. What do you think? Rose (Kitty Kelly seems to be in our collective thoughts right now, but we also have a few Kellys in the group that fit the description.)

Is she too old to be an orphan? How about "Annie"? I had a stray give birth to kittens in my backyard in August. (Actually, she gave birth to kittens elsewhere but brought them into my backyard when they were still damp from birthing). We already had three cats and were due to go on vacation for a month. I decided that they could move in under the porch. When the weather got cold in the fall I brought them into the house, but kept them downstairs in an empty apartment. I called the Mother "Topaz" because she was gray with beautiful yellow eyes. Four of the kittens were beautiful gray longhairs and one was a short-haired tabby. They lived downstairs until we had to go on our holiday. The neighbour took the whole kittenkaboodle in while we were gone. He found homes for two of the kittens and kept one himself. When we got back from holidays, we got Mom and two of the kittens back. It took me the longest time to find a home for the last gray kitten. We still have Topaz (we had her spayed and we’re looking for a home for her) and one of the kittens. For the longest time Topaz was very shy and wary around people. The vet said that it was likely that she was tossed out of the house when she got pregnant. (I’d like to meet the monster who could DO such a thing!). She’s coming around slowly. They are companions for my husband and a constant source of joy to me. What does the cat that is not yours look like? Cindy R.
