San Antonio

Question:

> C.  San Antonio is not Mexico City where one’s on the lookout for rogue > green & whites or extortionate cops.

Now I am worried.  I was afraid of this, so I rented a car. I just found out that PeMex in Mexico City doesn’t take credit cards here. I am sure I paid by credit card in Cancun.

Response:

> I want to thank all of you who reponded to my letter about travel to San > Antonio. Your input is invaluable to me and we will give it a try….I > suppose we will have to take a cab to and from the airport but that will > be the only time…. >       Thanks again….I hope I can help some of you sometime…..Gigi

A.  Don’t worry about the cabs in San Antonio.  Your source is absolutely full of poop…. B.  Why would you need a cab from the airport?  Cheaper, as quick and in your case likely providing a greater feeling of security are the airport shuttle services, quite safe and dependable. C.  San Antonio is not Mexico City where one’s on the lookout for rogue green & whites or extortionate cops. D. Relax… TMO

Response:

the cops in SA are actually quite friendly… anecdote – talking to a group of cops about the Alamo "We’re private security for Alamo – we can shoot you inside the Alamo"…"We’re city cops – we can shoot you in the city"…"We’re County Sheriffs – we can shoot you in the city, the Alamo, and the county"… "I’m a state cop – I can shoot you anywhere in the state of Texas".  (good humerous exchange – also there was a bit that Santa Ana might have won but there wasn’t enough room that day in the back of the pick-up to haul more Texans to Alamo to help defend…)

Glad you had a good time, Dan.  I had a good time too and was very proud of Krissy as she said her speech so well.  The Arth.Foundation program was really well done and lasted for two and a half hours.  The only problem I had with it was that it started at 8:00am(there could not be anyone with inflamitory arthritis up for meetings at that time of the morning). LOL  There was a young boy with JRA that closed the show with a speech about being a young boy that has to live with JRA. Everyone stood and raised the roof for several minutes as he left the stage.  Yes, Krissy and her husband and family are headed for Aruba for a well deserved vacation.  He told me that was some sand down there on the beach that was reserved for his rear end and he planned on keeping it filled as best he could.  Sounds like a plan to me.  LOL Harv Houston,Tx – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Got back from texas last night.  What a great trip!  You all (ya’ll) > would have been proud of Tina.  I know I am.  Right now she is basking > in the sun for a well deserved vacation. > It was great meeting folks from here and the chat room.  Pretty cool to > meet real people behind the screen names.  Up to now you were just words > on a screen.  I highly recommend this to others if possible.  I just > wish we could have spent more time with everyone. > Every one had cameras ‘cept us.  My wife was worried about not being > able to get copies of the pics.  Wrong!  Honey, everyone in the world > will now see us since they will probably be posted on someone’s web site > soon. > The San Antonio Riverwalk is a great area of town.  Wish our stupid city > had vision like that.  The walk along the river with the cafes and music > at night was to be remembered.  It should be even better when they turn > on the xmas lights hanging from the large trees along the river.  The > visit to the Alamo was well worth it along with the IMAX film about the > Alamo.  I am a little disappointed in that very few people had cowboys > hats or boots, and no cow pies to be seen.  Damn city slickers! > Got to go soak my feet for awhile.  The arthritis didn’t hurt me as bad > as getting blisters from all the walking.  Time for new shoes!! > Dan
